President signs new Constitution of Kyrgyzstan
President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev has signed a new version of the Constitution. The ceremony was held today.
It was attended by the Speaker of the Parliament, leaders of parliamentary factions, deputies, government members, including Prime Minister Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Chairman of the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Chamber, the head of the State Commission for Elections and Referenda.
The Head of State said: “About 40 amendments have been made. Inaccuracies, distortions and contradictions in the state and official languages have been fixed. There were more than 60 of them. The working group finished thorough work. Here is the original text, without inaccuracies. Now, I will sign a decree on the promulgation of the Constitution and give four variants to of government. The original is kept in the President’s Office. It will be published in Erkin-Too newspaper and in a separate booklet.”
Recall, by the law, the text of the new Constitution must be published until January 29.
