New passport design submitted for public discussion in Kyrgyzstan

The Ministry of Justice of Kyrgyzstan submitted a new passport design for public discussion. The Kyrgyz government website reported.

According to it, all interested parties may submit proposals to the resolution «On the passport of a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic of 2004, and ID card — passport of a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic of 2017 (ID card)» to the Ministry of Justice.

As the head of the State Registration Service Taiyrbek Sarpashev told to 24.kg news agency, thanks to biometric passports, the citizens will be able to get e-services.

SRS plans to issue new documents from March 2017.

As expected, the new passport will have two chips — contact and contactless from which one can read information from a distance. The chips will store information on ethnicity and place of residence of a citizen.
