79.6% voters back amendments to Constitution at turnout of 42%: CEC

79.6% of the voters have backed on Sunday the amendments to the Constitution of Kyrgyzstan at the voter turnout of 42%, Chairman of the Central Election Commission Nurzhan Shayldabekova told a press conference on December 12 in Bishkek.

This is almost final result of the referendum as, Shayldabekova said, 98% of the data is received.

The referendum was attended by 1,200,438 people or 42.09% of voters.

955,440 voted for the adoption of amendments to the Constitution and 184,816 people said “no” to the amendments representing 15.4% of the voters. Number of invalid ballots was 60,182 or 5%.
