“I support the amendments to the Constitution and the referendum,” member of the parliamentary faction of the Social Democratic Party Marat Amankulov said today at a roundtable discussion. According to him, the amendments should be considered as an attempt to stabilize the political situation and defuse the potential “landmines”. “The president will not prepare a successor as we are the democratic state, therefore we should improve the legislation to minimize the risks,” Marat Amankulov said. Another participant of the roundtable, expert Marat Imankulov, on the contrary, is confident that the next rewriting of the Basic Law will lead to the escalation of the situation, and this chaos can be used by the radical forces that have financial and political resources plus external support. “I believe that all this editing of the main document of the country is done with one purpose – the authorities want to keep the leverage and extend their term in office. I believe that the referendum should be postponed,” Marat Imankulov said. |
