Kyrgyzstan starts collection of signatures against referendum and for dissolution of Parliament
Collection of signatures against the referendum to amend the Constitution and for the dissolution of Parliament started in Kyrgyzstan. The initiator is “Say no to referendum!” movement.
According to the organizers, together with the violation of the rules and procedures on the appointment and conducting the referendum on amendments to the Basic Law, procedures of adoption of other laws are also violated now.
“Parliament’s actions, which makes decisions that violate the applicable laws, its own rules and does not respond to public appeals, when the country’s president is ill and is treated abroad, increase the risks of adoption of hasty decisions and prove once again how the Parliament has become a controlled by Presidential Administration body,” text of the appeal to all who disagree with the referendum says.
According to the members of “Say not to referendum!” movement, the process of amending the Constitution is illegitimate from the beginning, and the activities of Parliament involved in the illegitimate process itself becomes illegitimate. “Such actions by the Parliament make it complicit in the usurpation of power, which is a grave crime against the state,” the representatives of the movement say.
They note that initiated the collection of signatures among the citizens against the referendum and for the dissolution of the Parliament. The movement members stressed that they reserve the right to hold mass protests.
